How to install Google Chrome in Ubuntu.
Installing the new Google Chrome Alpha release for Ubuntu is actually pretty easy. All you really need to do is all a new software repository to your package manager and install Google Chrome just like any other Ubuntu package. Keep in mind that there are sources available to other Linux flavors, I just happen to run Ubuntu myself. Just because this Howto is for Ubuntu, doesn’t mean it won’t run on other flavors of Linux.
This is a “HowTo” for installing Google Chrome in Linux without having to use Wine. Many HowTo documents explain that you need to use Wine to get Google Chrome in Linux but now that Google Chrome Alpha is out, you no longer have to do that.
1. The first thing we’ll want to do is add a new repository to Ubuntu. First open up Synaptic Package Manager.
2. Click on settings, repository.
3. Click on the Third-Party software tab.

4. Add a new repository. Copy and paste this line:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu hardy main
5. Leave the current repository window open and continue to step 6.
6. Now download and save this key to a text file. Only copy from the BEGIN to the END.

The file should contain this:

7. Now back to the repository window, click the Authentication tab, then import key. Import the key you saved in step 6.

8. Close the repository window, and click the refresh button on Synaptic.
9. Search for Chrom, and install the Chrome Browser!

Now you should have the Chromium browser installed. Remember, this isn’t the “Google” browser, but the Chromium browser, the open source browser Google Chrome is based off of.

WHAT! It wants to remove open office ” no way “

Good tutorial, got it right first time, which is unusual for me and odd Linux packages.
